Prior to the first class meeting, students may add classes online and enroll in an available seat or waitlist slot for a closed/full class. Once a course begins, only the instructor may authorize enrollment by issuing the student an add code if there are seats available at the first class meeting. Students must enter add codes online by the add deadline, which is the day prior to the census date. The census date is the date course enrollment is reported to the State for apportionment funding. Add codes must be entered by the student online in myCuesta within the add deadline to officially enroll in a course. Add codes will not be accepted online or at in-person registration prior to the first class meeting as the waitlist is in operation.
To add a course online, students login to myCuesta and go to the Student Self Service portlet then click on "Register for Classes." Select term, then locate 5-digit course reference number (CRN) for the course Find Classes or go to Enter CRNs if you have the CRN ready. Click "Add to Summary" or "Add" link then go to Summary (lower right) and click "Submit" to process. If course needs an add code, a box will appear to enter the 6-digit add code. Add codes have letters that are case-sensitive and must be entered in caps.
-
Full-term course add deadline: The day prior to the posted census date, which is the end of the 2nd week of the fall/spring semester.
-
Short-term or Summer course add deadline: Within 20% of the course or the day prior to the posted census date.
Form: Add Card
Students who are unable to register online due to technical difficulties or other restrictions may submit an Add Card to be processed by Admissions & Registration staff.
Form: Readmit Card
A student who was inadvertently dropped by an instructor may be allowed to be readmitted/re-added beyond the normal add deadline with instructor approval. The deadline to be readmitted is by the end of the 12th week of the term or within 60% of a short-term or Summer course. Students must obtain instructor signature/add code on a Readmit Card.
Form: Transfer Card
Instructor or department-arranged transfers will be allowed beyond the normal add deadline for students transferring from one CRN to another of the exact same course or to a lower or higher level class in established prerequisite levels of the same discipline. Courses must be same length with same start/end dates. The deadline to be transferred is by the end of the 12th week of the term or within 60% of a short-term or Summer course.
Students must obtain instructor signature for both courses on a Transfer Card. Submit approved Transfer Card. Registration fees for the original CRN to be dropped will be credited while fees associated for the course to be added will be assessed to the student's account.
Form: Petition to Late Add
A petition for a late add will be considered if student has been in attendance/participating in the course prior to the add deadline and verifiable extenuating circumstances prevented student from enrolling within the current term. Documentation can include, but is not limited to a doctor's note, police report of an accident, death certificate of immediate family member, or any other documentation that verifies the student's extenuating circumstances that prevented student enrolling by the add deadline.
PLEASE ALLOW 3-5 BUSINESS DAYS FOR PROCESSING. FORMS MUST BE POSTMARKED OR EMAILED BY DEADLINE. CHECK YOUR STUDENT PORTAL OR STUDENT EMAIL ON STATUS OF APPEAL.
