EMERGENCY MEDICAL TECHNICIAN (EMT) REFRESHER
(EMS 102)

The EMT Refresher course is a 9 week distance education course, with a mandatory in-person skills day at our San Luis Obispo campus. This course allows Emergency Medical Technicians or students who have completed an EMT course but not yet passed their NREMT test to review and update the knowledge and skills required to obtain the State of California Emergency Technician Level I certification or prepare to take the NREMT exam. This course is currently offered in both the spring and fall semesters. Refer to the course welcome letter and current class schedule for important dates and additional information.

EMS 102 Requirements

To be eligible to enroll in this course you must have one or more of the following:

  • a California County EMT certification card (can be expired up to 2 years) and a current Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support CPR card
  • a current National Registry (NR-EMT) card (valid within last 24 months), and a current Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support CPR card
  • a Certificate of Completion for an EMT course within the last two years with fewer than three attempts to take the NR-EMT  exam, and a current Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support CPR card

You must maintain current CPR Certification ("BLS for Healthcare Providers CPR and AED" or "CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer & Healthcare Provider" throughout the course).
