Description/Additional information: Huge 18’x13.33’ southwest facing room in our urban farm home, furnished with a king sized sleep by number bed, dresser, book shelves & chairs. The room has views of hills to the south & the ocean and bay to the west. We have spent the past 2 years remodeling with new flooring & installing a new bathroom. We have a robot vacuum to help you keep the floors clean. We have a cat, chickens and gardens rich with fresh herbs & greens and other delicious things. When the chickens are behaving we have loads of fresh eggs. At other times we have a few eggs. Out the door on foot are multiple options for lovely walks to the bay, sweet springs or the elfin forest. Just a short drive away is Montana de Oro or the popular surfing beaches in Morro Bay or Cayucos to the north or Pismo to the south. We have a baby grand piano & lots of other instruments. I remodeled the kitchen 2 years ago so we now have a dishwasher. I do still aspire to capturing the clean water for reuse in the garden, but have been utilizing the dishwasher to make life easier. We separate our refuse, compost, chicken snacks, green waste (bones), recycling and trash so as to get the most ecological reuse of resources. My name is Jora, I’m 59 and I am a massage therapist, yoga instructor, avid gardener, singer songwriter, GF/DF gourmet food artist, crafter/artist and mom 3 of adult kids, with 3 grand dogs that visit occasionally. I sing in the choir at Trinity United Methodists Church. My partner Doug, also 59 and my 20 year old son Sage live here with me presently. My youngest son Sage will be returning to UCSC as a Junior to continue his studies of Bio-molecular Engineering and Bioinformatics in January. He is currently a student at Cuesta finishing up his prerequisite courses. Doug loves to build things and quite often has some kind of wood or metal project going either here or out at his property in the CA Valley. Doug built a wood fire pizza oven, so occasionally we have pizza parties. I have a group of women I have been creating music with for 25+ years. We gather to play acoustic music almost weekly. We usually play in my massage studio which is located downstairs in the east side of the house. Doug is 25 years clean and sober. I don’t really drink but once or twice/year. I don’t smoke or do drugs. My partner Doug does smoke, but outside only. I have celiacs so I get ill from just little crumbs of gluten. I am also allergic to dairy. Doug eats all the gluten and dairy I don’t eat. We try to keep gluten cooking that has crumbs to a limited area in the kitchen. I am not a vegetarian ( I was many years ago) but I love creating beautiful meals with a rainbow of veggies ornamented with a small amount of meat. My partner Doug loves meat potatoes and pasta. He is a great cook too! Sage prefers ramen and fried rice and burritos. Well truth be told we all love tacos with beans, rice and salsa on the side. Right up the block is a great Mexican market with cheap tacos on Tuesdays and the tamale lady comes by often selling her delicious wares. | |

Visitors have said that "this feels like a home, not a house", and all of the current tenants agree with this statement. This is a very comfortable home and will make going back to your hometown a struggle. This house is directly across the street from the Cal Poly Rec Center, with access to bike paths to walk or skate to campus. The front yard is secluded to passersby with natural landscaping but still provides the tenants with a beautiful view of campus and San Luis Obispo. Front yard amenities include a couch and die table, as well as an unobstructed lawn to relax or tan. The backyard borders Longview Alley, a quiet, peaceful street. Backyard amenities include a meat smoker, grill, two couches, and another die table. The room offered has its own full bathroom. closet and dresser. The garage sits on the same level as the bedroom, equipped with a washer, dryer, fridge, freezer, microwave, and carpet and couches. This bedroom has its own private access to the garage and backyard. One key per tenant provides a universal lock with the private bedroom, garage, and back doors. The next level up is the kitchen. The kitchen is fully stocked with spices and proper cookware. A toaster, air fryer, rice cooker, ice machine, blender, and waffle maker are included. The living room connects to the kitchen and has a TV with surround sound and most streaming subscriptions. A Wii was recently procured as well. The Living room has high wooden ceilings with spot lighting which gives it a cozy, homey feeling. Decorative artwork adorns the walls, which often receives high praise. The upstairs area is where the other 3 roommates stay. A standalone bathroom also resides upstairs. | |
