Freemasonry or Masonry is the first and largest fraternal organization in the world. From its earliest beginnings it is a place for self-improvement and thus improvement of the world. It has become a global network of men and women that is steeped in tradition, ritual, and symbolism. Today, Freemasonry is dedicated to improvement, community, and philanthropy. This class provides a historical perspective of Freemasonry, delving into its origins, traditions, history, and organization. Special attention is directed to the history of Freemasonry in California, Central Coast, and San Luis Obispo.
Your instructor is Patrick McCoy, M. A. of International Psychology, a member of the Masons of California for 17 years, Past Master of the Masonic Lodge in Alhambra, CA, current Master of King David’s Masonic Lodge in San Luis Obispo, as well as an officer in York Rite Royal Arch, Cryptic Council, and Commandry Knight’s Templar, and member of the Ancient Egyptian Order of Sciots.
