Cuesta Concord Chorus

Celebrating Route 66
The Cuesta Concord Chorus (C3) will continue community and veteran outreach by recording music that can be shared in the USA and overseas.
The Spring portion of the 2020-2021 season rehearsals will be held via Zoom*.
Rehearsals will be held on Tuesday nights, beginning February 9, 2021 at 7pm.
“C3” will record pieces that will be compiled into videos and uploaded to our YouTube Channel. Repertoire will include music inspired by the regions of Route 66: Cowboy music, Native People’s Music, Jazz, and the Route itself.
The first rehearsal on February 9 at 7pm will go over in detail:
- Introduction C3 Support members
- Board of Directors, aka Cowgirls
- Section Leaders
- Accompanist and Recording technicians
- The repertoire
- Rehearsal and Recording Calendar
- How the rehearsal and recording process will proceed.
- The majority of video recordings will be in slideshow format.
- Only one song will be a personal video recording.

The Cuesta Concord Chorus welcomes singers who love to share their voices with each other and with their community. Previous choral singing experienced is encouraged, but not required.
New singers will go through a voicing process over Zoom with Cassandra Tarantino.
The Zoom appointments will be made after the first rehearsal and will include:
- Estimating the singer’s range and voice type
- Ability to read music (not required)
- Ask Ms. Tarantino any questions you may have about the ensemble.

Cassandra Tarantino has her Bachelor’s Degrees in Church Music and English Literature from Westmont College, Santa Barbara. She holds Master’s Degrees in Performance Flute from CSU, Northridge, and in Choral Conducting from SJSU. Ms. Tarantino has taught at Cuesta College, San Luis Obispo since 2006 where she conducts the Concert Choir, teaches private voice and flute, and Musicianship and Classical Music Appreciation. In 2006 Cassandra founded the Cuesta Concord Chorus and has enjoyed touring the world with them singing with fellow choirs and for veterans. Ms. Tarantino was hired in 2017 as the Music Director for St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church. Folk music and dance are a passion for Cassandra, and you will often find her playing and dancing traditional Irish, English Country and Contra Dance music. |
