Intro Chinese Language and Culture
Learn to speak, read, and write Chinese at a basic level. This course focuses on the Chinese Pinyin Romanization system using simplified Chinese characters. Aspects of the Chinese culture are also incorporated in this entry-level class.
Materials are free and will be shared by the instructor through Google Classroom.

Ms. Liane Aanderaa is a native of Beijing, China. She received her B.A. in arts and education with a major in piano from Beijing Normal University, one of the most prestigious teacher training universities in all of China. After graduation Liane began teaching music theory and piano at Minzu University of China in Beijing. Later she established and administered the Canton Electronic Keyboard School at the Canton Culture and Education Center in Canton China. In 1990 Liane moved to Oslo, Norway. There, she earned her B.S. in Economics and Business Administration from Oslo University College. She taught piano in Oslo and Akershus Municipal Music School districts as well as taught Chinese language and culture in both group and private settings. In 1998 Liane has worked for a Los Angeles import and export company translating meetings and representing the company in negotiations with Chinese manufacturers in Shanghai. Since moving to Santa Maria in 2011 Liane has been teaching Chinese language and culture classes in a variety of settings including Allan Hancock College and Orcutt Academy High School in Santa Maria, Cuesta College in San Luis Obispo. She is also teaching classes at Luis OASIS Senior Center in Santa Maria as well as teaching private students. |
