Level Description

angelfish level

A - Angelfish

Parent/guardian accompanies child in the pool. Class consists of instruction in water safety and activities for building comfort in the water. Emphasizes safely enjoying a fun pool environment. Students will develop comfortability in the water with bubble blowing, submersion, floating, and other foundational skills of swimming, and parents will learn activities and songs to promote a positive swimming experience. Class is held in the therapy pool.

Recommended for children ages 6 months-3 years.
Max class ratio is 1:10.

B - Baby Belugas

&

Big Belugas

Working Towards Independence

Teaches foundational skills of swimming to students with limited independent pool exposure. Emphasizes development of comfort in the water with activities such as supported floating and kicking, bubble blowing and face immersion, pool entry and exit, and supported front crawl. Class is held in the therapy pool.

Baby Belugas: Recommended for children ages 3-5.
New! Big Belugas: beginner level class for children ages 6+. 
Max class ratio for both is 1:4.

clownfish level

C - Clownfish

Fundamentals of Water Safety

Develops foundational skills of swimming and water safety, including unsupported floating, submerged paddling and object retrieval, gliding, turning over while floating, kicking on both front and back, safety swimming on the back, and jumping in from the pool edge. Class is held in the therapy pool.

Recommended for children ages 3-5.
Max class ratio is 1:4.

D - Dolphins

Intermediate Stroke and Technique

Class is designed for students who have mastered safety skills in previous levels. Children will continue to practice these skills, and will develop streamlines and body rotation in front and back crawl. Dolphin kick and butterfly stroke will be introduced. Class is held in the main pool and may use the therapy pool in some class meetings. Children will gain comfort in deep water. The child must have passed the level of "Clownfish" or equivalent to be in the "Dolphins" level.

Recommended for children ages 4 and up.
Max class ratio is 1:6.

electric eels level

E - Electric Eels

Stroke Development

Class reinforces all front crawl, backstroke, and butterfly skills learned in previous levels. Students are introduced to frog kick, breaststroke, and treading water. Students will learn to dive from the pool edge. Students should feel comfortable in deep water and in the main pool. Class is held in the main pool. The child must have passed the level of "Dolphins" or equivalent to be in the "Electric Eels" level.

Recommended for children ages 4 and up.
Max class ratio is 1:6.

F - Flying Fish

Advanced Stroke and Technique

Emphasizes refinement of technique in butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke, and freestyle. Prioritizes development of endurance in the water and proper technique in each of the four strokes. Pull-downs and racing starts will be introduced, as will freestyle flip turns and IM order. Students must be comfortable in deep water and expect to swim 10+ laps each class session. Class is held in the main pool. The child must have passed the level of "Electric Eels" or equivalent to be in the "Flying Fish" level.

Recommended for children ages 6 and up.
Max class ratio is 1:8.
