In this 5-week adventure focusing on coastal photography, you'll learn to greatly enhance your picture-taking skills while unlocking your artistic potential. Course topics include expanding your creative vision, understanding light, experimenting with shutter speed (i.e., to capture soft flowing motion or to freeze wave action), exploring unique points of view, and shooting sunsets and twilight. The five classroom sessions involve a lively mix of instructional slide shows, assignments, critiques and discussions, while a field session puts it all into practice. Emphasis is on natural light and on capturing images "in-camera" without major post-processing.
Equipment: digital camera with adjustable controls, and a lens or lenses that extends from wide-angle to telephoto. A tripod is recommended.
NOTE: For upper beginner through advanced; a basic knowledge of shutter speed, F/stops and ISO is advisable.
Saturday Field Session: Oct. 7, 2023, from late afternoon through sunset, in the coastal village of Cayucos.
